Helping you ride the waves of your emotions

Hi there!
I'm Andrea Aron-Schiavone, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
(she/her)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and mental health therapist with over a decade of experience working in the mental health field across different settings. I have supported children as young as 3 years old, adolescents, and adults who are struggling with a variety of challenges including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, self-harm, and general challenges with adjustment/life transitions. I also love working with neurodiverse children, adolescents, and adults to support them in navigating a world that is not as kind and accessible to neurodiverse folks as it should be.

My approach is trauma-informed, antiracist, LGBTQ+ affirming, and emphasizes the therapeutic relationship as the most important intervention. I aim to create a safe, trusting, and compassionate environment where you can be your most vulnerable and authentic self. I love to incorporate a variety of modalities and approaches, including DBT, sand tray therapy, parts work, and child-centered play therapy (CCPT).

My Specializations
Child-centered Play Therapy
Play is the language of children. By learning to speak their language, we create space for clients to process their emotions and experiences through play, and to have agency and independence in their own healing.
Grief and Loss
We don't "get over" grief--rather, we are shaped and transformed by the losses we carry with us always. Therapy can help you integrate the parts of yourself and your world before and after losses, allowing you to move forward with greater meaning and acceptance.
Neurodiversity
Our world certainly was not built for folks on the neurodiversity spectrum! I love supporting clients in creating a safe and affirming space to figure out how to navigate a world that was not built for them, carving out a space where they can not only survive, but thrive.
Foster Care and Adoption
Having worked as a department of human services foster care and adoption social worker for three years, I became familiar with and passionate about the unique challenges and core issues faced by folks involved in the foster care system. I would love to support you or your loved one through a trauma-informed, adoption competent approach that seeks to enhance safety, acknowledge grief, and strengthen attachment.
Life Transitions
Whether you are beginning a new job, moving to a new home, or beginning some other chapter, even "good" transitions can feel overwhelming and stressful. Therapy can provide a place to navigate the changes that come your way with equanimity and confidence.
Sand Tray
This modality provides a way for you to process your emotions and experiences that are hard to put into words. By using miniatures, we can build external worlds in a sand tray, gaining deeper insight into our complex inner worlds.
